Almaden Quicksilver County Park: Worth the Walk, Part 1 of 3

Teddy's Scout Troop went on a 6-mile hike at Almaden Quicksilver Park this past weekend.  It was drippy when we got up in the morning, so we wore fleece jackets and waterproof outer layers to keep out the wet.  We were in luck--the rain held off most of the day, so we only got a little damp, not soaked through.

It was a great hike, but a long one.  I'll start by sharing some of the pictures that I took, flowers first today:

These happy flowers were the closest thing to sunshine we saw all day.  They greeted us as we started on our trail, and welcomed us back when we returned hours later, tired and footsore.

There were tons of little purple flowers all over--I could not get a clear picture of them all since I only brought the iPhone.

Lots of bright orange California poppies, but they were all furled up.  Waiting for the sun to come out, just like the rest of us, I suppose.

More little purple flowers.  There were many varieties, mostly lots of small little flowers everywhere.  I didn't take more pictures because I was working hard to stay with the group, and didn't want to have to run to catch up.
